It’s Memorial Day Weekend and everyone is trying to get their “summer body”.  Your summer body should just be your body no matter what, but I’m honest and know that we all have feelings of getting in shape or losing a few pounds for the summer. As long as we have good body image and self-esteem, it’s okay to want that. Have you done intermittent fasting?!  I feel like at this point, everyone has tried intermittent fasting.  To my shock, I’ve now gone out with two guys that intermittent fast to the extreme! It’s really that they just don’t eat. Both of these guys told me on the first date (and only date!), that they don’t eat until 7pm.  Let me repeat that – they do not eat until 7pm every single day.

I just can’t.  I mean there is something so rigid and restrictive about that. I don’t think that we’re supposed to starve ourselves all day until 7pm and then gorge on a huge dinner.  I also need coffee in the morning!  The way that these guys talked about their eating was a huge turn off.  It actually sounded like a disorder and very unhealthy.  One of them also told me that he went on a five-day water fast.  Yes, you heard that right, he did not eat for five whole days and only drank water.  That cannot possibly be healthy!

Why are some men so rigid as they stay single and get older?!  I have this whole theory that the longer you stay single, the more rigid and set-in-your-ways you become.  So listening to these two guys made me feel like they don’t have the flexibility to bring someone into their lives.

Then yesterday, a few women in a workout Facebook group I’m in were talking about intermittent fasting. The whole idea is to just have a fast period where your body burns fat. Is this true?! Where are the scientific studies?! I did a ton of googling, and it appears that if you eat an early dinner and have a late breakfast so that there are about 12-16 hours when you are not eating, your body may burn more fat. Please do not quote me on this as I’m just a snarky comedian, and not a medical or health professional! So, intermittent fasting, you got me too!  I like an early dinner, and maybe I can actually do this! So today, I ate breakfast about 15 hours after dinner last night.  Let’s see if it works and if I stick to it.  And no, I will not be telling guys on dates about it.

P.S. Unlike those guys, I love my chocolate. These are so delicious – get your larabar truffles now!
